Getting the First 30 Seconds with Your Opening Statement

So what do you say first on a cold call which gets you the next 30 seconds?

A very clear introduction of who I am and what company I am from followed with; 

"Have I caught you at a bad time?" 

This gives the contact an emotional perception of control over the call and relaxes them.  
Only rarely will they say “Yes” and then because you’ve got them at (you guessed it) a BAD time (in which case you request a time to follow up -- which they are only to happy to provide you with as you have already identified yourself as someone who will not waste their time.)  
Most prospects respond with some variation of "No, its fine" or "It's always a bad time--whats this about?" And you are free to continue your call with a prospect who is now paying attention.
